Port Moresby, 07 August 2019 - ANNOUNCING ‘Vala North,’ a captivating film that tells the story of how communities in New Ireland Province exercise natural resource management through traditional practices despite the threats in climate change, population and consumption.

Vala is a deep customary practice in New Ireland Province. John Aini Founder of Ailan Awareness, reflect on the role of this custom in managing their marine resources. Community members in the community share their views on how if they see it as important.

The film will be available on August 9. Produced by Open Boat Films & Eco Custodians Advocates with support from the Global Environment Facility Small Grant Programme and United Nations Development Programme.
