    Excellence in Anti-Corruption Reporting Media Awards 2012 - Speech by Mr. David McLachlan-Karr, UNDP

    Speaking on the occasion the RC remarked that corruption negatively impacts Papua New Guinea’s achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and all future work in equitable human development. As such, tackling corruption requires the strong commitment of government, but it also requires the support of civil society, including the media, to hold the government accountable for what it does on behalf of its citizens.

    The RC remarked that UN is committed to working closely alongside the PNG Government, and with all our development partners, to find solutions and bring about sustainable development in PNG. In March this year, the UN agencies. funds and programmes in PNG signed the UN Development Assistance Framework UNDAF – the cornerstone of our collective work – for the period 2012-2015. The UNDAF is closely aligned with national development aspirations of the Medium-term Development Plan 2011-2015, the Development Strategic Plan and the Vision 2050.
