Contribution agreement signed between European Commission and UNDP PNG May 16, 2013A contribution agreement has been signed between the EU and UNDP country office in PNG to implement a disaster risk management project titled “Reducing Risk and Building Community Resilience in Autonomous Region of Bougainville’. The project, with a budget of 540,000 Euros will be implemented over a period of 18 months.

This workshop catered for stakeholders from Gulf and Central provinces and the National Capital District. In attendance were Provincial Administrators with their Deputies, District Administrators, LLG Managers/Presidents and Provincial/District Treasurers.
Advance MapInfo training completed successfully Apr 8, 2013An advance MapInfo training was conducted from the 8th – 19th April, 2013 under the “Disaster Risk Management Mainstreaming Program for Papua New Guinea” which is jointly implemented by UNDP, SOPAC and National Disaster Centre of Papua New Guinea. The main objective of the training was to provide participants with an overview of the potential benefits of using Geographical Information System (GIS) for disaster risk management and other potential applications.
National Disaster Centre commenced the review of the Disaster Management Act Mar 1, 2013The National Disaster Centre of Papua New Guinea has commenced the review of the existing Disaster Management Act with technical assistance from PNG Constitutional Law Reform Commission. Earlier UNDP assisted the Government of PNG strengthen the current DRM governance arrangements through revision of the National Disaster Risk Management Plan (NDRM Plan) that provided an institutional framework for DRM at all levels and paved the way for the revision of the existing DM legislation.
PCaB Support to the Autonomous Region of BougainvilleFeb 20, 2013The PCaB Management visited the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (ARB) on the 25th – 26th Feb 2013. The travelling team included the Chief Technical Specialist Mr. Tito Balboa, National Program Coordinator Mr. Sam Erepan and ENB Provincial Support Advisor Mr. Geoffrey Kedeke. The trip was part of the awareness of the program to extend its technical support to the ARB in 2013 and onwards.
