  • UN urges to Leave No One Behind Dec 2, 2016

    Every year on December 3, countries all around the world celebrate the International Day for Persons with Disabilities. Today, the world population is over 7 billion people. More than one billion people, approximately 15 per cent of the world's population, live with some form of disability, including in Papua New Guinea. With life expectancy rates increasing in most countries, it is also evident that more people worldwide will experience some form of disability at some time in our lives.

  • Ways to strengthen public service delivery and anti-corruption initiatives discussed in Port Moresby Nov 24, 2016

    Regional knowledge exchange workshop focused on Government-Citizen partnership for Ethical Governance took place in Port Moresby. The workshop discussed the ways Pacific Governments can effectively engage with citizens through innovative use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and improve its public service delivery, including anti-corruption initiatives. Participants included representatives from Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Solomon Islands.

    United Nauro-Gor Inc., a community-based organization that works to promote peace, unity and sustainable development in Nauro Gor, Simbu province has become the first civil society organization from Papua New Guinea to join a global civil-society network of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) – the GEF-CSO Network.

    A stakeholder consultation workshop on agricultural mapping was held in Port Moresby on the 4th of November 2016. The workshop was organized to present the results of a study that 1) assessed the extent of current agricultural area in five provinces, and 2) estimated future scenarios for agricultural expansion in these provinces.

To achieve this vision, we must recognize that we have a duty of care towards the environment in peacetime and during war.
