Through the Joint UN task team on HIV/AIDS, division of labor among the UN agencies is aligned to the three National HIV Strategic Areas i.e  1) HIV Prevention, 2) Treatment and Care and 3) Management/systems strengthening. UNDP focuses on the Management and Systems Strengthening component, with National AIDS Council Secretariat (NACS) as the lead implementing partner. Our focus is mainly supporting initiatives that are aimed at enhancing the capacity of  Civil Society Organizations to  implement the National HIV strategies; Strengthen the national monitoring and evaluation systems of HIV; developing capacities to engage  leaders in the  HIV response; and   supporting community led initiatives in addressing key drivers to the epidemic in various communities.

Overall areas of intervention: Capacity Development (institutional) for both CSOs and Government institutions implementing HIV initiatives; Support to legal reforms and human rights with regards to HIV; HIV mainstreaming in national policies and development programmes, with focus on ; Support to HIV sensitive social protection, and national/subnational AIDS development planning and budgeting
