OUR WORK - WOMEN´S EMPOWERMENT

Gender inequality remains a major development challenge in Papua New Guinea. With a population of 6.2 million people, PNG’s anecdotal reports, small-scale surveys and perceptions of violence (including from the Household Income and Expenditure Survey 2010-11), violence against women is understood to be unacceptably high; PNG’s systems of family and community relationships often exclude women from leadership and decision making roles.
